The first Serbian edition of this ethnographical and anthropological monograph was published electronically in 2014. The current, second English edition, was published in printed format for the first time in 2023. The publication offers a rich discourse (accompanied by many photographs) on paintings of 65 Slovak painters or their family members from Vojvodina, Serbia.
The paintings present different meanings and send messages on different levels. Created in rural areas, they are in a way ethnographic notes on socio-cultural continuity and life of the Slovak national minority in Serbia. The appeal of these paintings lies in the fact that they speak of universal themes of life in local communities, while also establishing communication with viewers from different parts of the world.
