Bohemian (Czech) garnet, or in technical term pyrop, is an important and beloved part of the cultural heritage for people of Czech and Slovak descent. The Czech garnet is considered to be the Czech national gemstone whose blood-red color made it popular with kings or noble classes of Bohemian lands, as well as it was later made accessible to the common folk. Today, its popularity continues in modern-style jewelry produced by the Český granát company in northern Czechia.
