Čičmany-style Birdhouse

Give your chirpy backyard friends a perfect home decorated in traditional design of houses in Čičmany, Slovakia! Local Cedar-Rapidian, and maker of birdhouses for many years, Jeanne Allgood, made the birdhouses exclusively for NCSML in celebration of our heritage and also of the exhibit spotlighting Slovakia, where a replica of the Čičmany house can be viewed.

Made entirely of wood except the roof which is metal and has two coats of paint. Thick wire hook on metal roof ensures sturdy position. After feathery residents leave the house, it can be cleaned by loosening three screws underneath. The outer side of the birdhouse has been treated with three coats of clear coat that preserves the wood from the elements for a long time.
