Crowning Glory

Crowning Glory by Helene Baine Cincebeaux spotlights the incredible variety and stunning beauty of folk headdress found across Slovakia and Moravia, the Eastern-most region of the Czech republic. The book is also a tribute to the collecting efforts that Helene and her mother underwent during the course of almost 50 years while visiting more than 3000 villages in both countries. The headpieces in their collection and featured in the book reflect not only the social status of women and men at certain stages of their lives but also an incredible imagination and skills to materialize it into a timeless beauty. Dozens of headdresses are on exhibit at NCSML through February 27, 2022.
